After the tantalising showing at E3 2018 (as to which see below), we’ve been feverishly awaiting updates as to the release date of Kojima’s latest brainchild. Having first featured at 2016’s E3 conference, Death Stranding was finally rumoured to release at some point in 2019, but we weren’t given any indication as to when. Has Amazon just provided us with a rather large hint?

I know, Mads – the anticipation is killing us, too.

To those who preordered Death Stranding through their site, Amazon sent a helpful delivery update on 18th July 2018 (below left), indicating that the expected delivery date was the 29th March 2019. Curiously, however, a subsequent email on the 20th July 2018 – several news outlets having noticed the apparent leak – stated that they didn’t have an estimated delivery date (below right).

What do you make of this? Was it a simple mistake, or has Amazon dropped a clanger? Could this be 2018’s biggest cover-up?! I, for one, will be marking 29th March 2019 in my calendar – in thick, viscous ink.
